Learn in the Flow of Life: Small Shifts, Big Impact

This kind of post is right in line with what Learn in the Flow of Life has always been about—paying attention to small, meaningful insights that can make life a little better, a little clearer, or a little easier.

Lately, I’ve been drawn to sharing more quick, practical tips—especially ones grounded in science—that I’ve personally tried and found helpful. Like this one from Dr. Andrew Huberman’s podcast: a simple breathing technique to boost alertness.

I used it recently on a long drive from northeast Wisconsin to Minnesota. The road stretched on, my energy was dipping, and this small shift helped me refocus and feel more awake—without needing another coffee.

Here’s how it works:

  • Take 1–3 deep inhales through your nose

  • Hold your breath for 15–60 seconds

  • Exhale slowly

This technique taps into the body’s natural alerting systems. I later found it backed by more detail in one of Huberman’s newsletters.

More of these bite-sized, real-life-tested ideas to come. Thanks for following along.
