The Wait Is Over

Many years ago, I put my name on the season ticket waiting list for the Green Bay Packers.

At the time, I was around 30,000 on the list. I used to joke that I’d finally get tickets in my 80’s, when I might not even be able to enjoy them.

Now the list is over 150,000 names long. Some say it could take 30, 50… even 100 years.

And it made me stop and wonder: Did decades just pass? And was I sitting there waiting the whole time?

Because here’s what I know is true.

• It’s already been a year since my grandma passed.

• A year since we said goodbye to Sammy.

• A year since my uncle Don.

  
  

Next week, Hannah turns 14.

And our son Jack is finishing his last year of elementary school.

And I am much closer to retirement than the beginning of my career that seems just like yesterday…when I put my name on the Packer season ticket wait list.

Life doesn’t feel slow. It feels like it’s flying. And yet… how often do we still say:

• “Someday I’ll do that”

• “When things settle down”

• “At the right time”

Then recently, I got the message:

“The wait is over, Jason Grom. Congratulations! You’ve reached the front of the waiting list.”

And I’m genuinely excited!!!

Not just to be a season ticket holder of The Green Bay Packers, but for what it represents: more opportunities to be together, to show up, to create lasting memories with the people I love.

And I couldn’t help but think…What if life sent that same message?

Not about football tickets, but about the things that matter most. What if it said:

“The wait is over. This is your time.”

Because the truth is…It already has.

We just don’t always notice yet. So maybe the question isn’t whether the wait is over.

Maybe it’s this: Will I live like it is?
