For anyone that follows my blog posts or knows me at work or anywhere, I am a reader. Considering what I have heard about the process, I never really thought publishing a book would be in my future.
I helped out a couple authors by reviewing their books before they published and reached out to one of the authors, Steve Rosenbaum to learn more about his process. He responded almost immediately and shared the ins and outs of publishing his most recent book, including the option of self-publishing through Amazon.
In addition I reached out to my friend and former colleague, Mary Connaughty-Sullivan who recently published her book, "Nudges From The Other Side." She gave me great insight into editing and selecting a publisher if I wanted to take that route.
One Sunday morning I had this ephiphany where I realized that I could publish my first book and relatively quickly. The book was mostly written and it would give me an opportunity to further honor my grandfather, Jack Anderson.
Since then, I wrote the foreword, collected almost 20 tribute messages to add to an afterward section and collected additional pictures and artifacts to add into the book.
Recently, I reached out to my friend and former colleague Kim Rodgers who is starting up a design, branding, and website company. When we worked together I was impressed with her "popcorn thinking" coming up with new ideas and her amazing design skills. She was excited to join the project and has already created a stunning cover design and started a refreshed editing approach that will take my latest editing attempt to then next level.
This project and publishing my first book is becoming a reality and I could not be more excited to share the book, "A Soldier's Song: The World War II Diary Of Sergeant Jack Anderson" with the world!
Stay tuned for updates including timing of the book launch on my blog, "Learn In The Flow Of Life," and a new page I setup on Facebook, "A Soldier's Song."
And if you are wondering, of course I am learning a ton through this experience!
Learn In The Flow Of Life
