This is the tag line for White House Sport Psychology founded by Tim White.
My daughter Hannah and I had a chance to meet Tim as part of her involvement in the Omni Otters Swim Club and Tartan Swim & Dive
Tim talked about the benefit of exploring different activities leading to mental flexibility, also known as neuroplasticity - better and faster learning.
The ability to tolerate things that are uncomfortable will serve those who explore different activities in school, relationships and life.
I can speak from my own experience playing baseball, football, basketball and golf in high school. I wasn’t a world class athlete, but I am thankful for the experiences.
In addition, Tim talked about the connection between sports performance and psychology and their impact on athlete mental health and well being.
Training should be physical and mental:
Physical: form, technique, endurance, strength, power
Mental: awareness, emotional energy, attention, self-belief
I’m thankful that Hannah’s coaches at Omni and Tartan are focused on both and supportive of her exploring different activities in sports and beyond!
Thank you Tim and Omni and Tartan for the opportunity!
How have you experienced the connection between mental and physical training on your performance, sports or otherwise?
